All I want is a windshield phone mount for my new phone, how hard can this be?! In this fast changing world of electronics, sometimes it just sucks that every 5 minutes you have to buy a new accessory to support your new phone. That’s been my problem for years now and I’m guessing, you’re having the same troubles. All I want to do is mount my phone to my windshield so I can use it as a dash cam, a navigator, or view a route on Google Maps. How hard can this be??? Hard! If I buy a new phone, I have to spend $50 bucks for all the new accessories I need to make this happen. I hate it!
As always, I decided the best answer was to do it myself. I just want a simple clip that will fit around my phone, whether it has a protective case or not, so I can mount it to my windshield, my Sticky Pod gear, or my tripods that I already own. I’ve been looking for years and really, it just doesn’t exist anywhere. Frustrating to say the least! How tough can it be to have one mount to accomplish all of this. I want to introduce you to the best windshield phone mount anyone can print on their own. You saw that right. You can download the file for FREE and print it yourself, or you can simply buy this new Sticky Pod design as it is for your iPhone 4, 4S or 5 with an Otterbox Defender case. Here’s the best part, I can create any mount you need, from this setup, when you provide me the dimensions of your device and case (in mm). More designs for various phones, with specific cases, will come online when they become available. While I can print mounts for phones, and nav units, many tablets, such as iPads, are to big for my printer. I use the Printrbot Plus, which is an 8 X 8 X 8 inch print area.
Well now you can buy the entire kit, or print it on your own 3D printer for FREE! How cool is that?!?! I designed everything in Google Sketchup, then verified the STL print file would export properly to the standard GCode, and I’m giving it to you! Now you can print it yourself (all files and configurations are FREE) and use it as is with your existing tripods and various video heads, or print it yourself and buy the suction cup kit with the hardware you need to complete your Sticky Pod. Of course, you can buy the entire kit and I will print it for you on my 3D Printer (Printrbot Plus), just tell me the make and model of your phone and the case, if any, you’re using.
